CHINESE TRAP

“Chinese culture” is getting more and more popular these years. In this project, Anna wanna show the truest current situation of the Chinese small towns and villages, which, in her eyes, are the “transparent” areas in China.

This collection is inspired by a small town near Anna’s hometown, which is viewed as a typical example of the countless Chinese poor villages which are buried in the mountains.

Anna researched in this town for one week, captured different types people by her camera.

“Rust”, is a strong expression of “abandonment”. The weather in Chinese southern town is gloomy and shady all year around, the iron there is always rusty. So Anna tried dye the rust on the daily fabric.

This is an pre-project of Anna’s MFA thesis collection. Inherit the traditional Chinese funeral culture and explore the
relationship and communication methods between herself and the deceased in my family.
